How did you even come up with that, Rene?

"Originally, all I wanted was to support conservation with my money – but in a way that actually saves wild habitats. The problem: no organization could show me what exactly my contribution achieves. The money always went into one big pot, and apart from a thank-you email, nothing ever came back. It frustrated me so much that I stopped donating altogether.

But the topic wouldn't let me go, and through my research one thing became clear: whoever owns the forest can protect it from deforestation effectively and with legal certainty – that's why land purchase. I also noticed how many people had given up because their contribution never felt tangible and real. So I combined the two – real protection, tangible impact: in 2021, that idea became Fund The Planet, and today we protect 11,000 hectares of rainforest."

How do you protect the area on the ground, for example against illegal logging?

We are the legal owners of the land and secure it together with local communities, through patrols and AI-supported monitoring. That keeps the protection binding for the long term.

Who owns the protected land?

Fund The Planet, operated by Munich-based Green Token GmbH, acquired the land in a legally secure purchase and places your area under protection. Your area is assigned to you and visible in the Explorer.
